TJFA DIVISION 6 LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

The under 11B went into a new adventure of 11-a-side football in the 6th division with everyone wondering how things would go. Nobody could have predicted what was to come in a season of quite a few highs but also a couple of lows. The addition of a couple of players from the A team and new players joining through the season all added to the unpredictability and excitement. They started their season against Hartlepool team Stranton and the football they produced was a shock to everyone. Their passing and control of the game was a joy to behold and this set the tone for the rest of the season.

Many of the “highs” came in way of performances as well as the score line with 1 game in particular an absolute stand-out. North Riding Cup tie against 2nd division Cargo Fleet was by far their biggest test. They came through this with flying colours as they beat a team 4 division higher 4-1. There were some “lows” along the way but to their credit the lads learnt from these and came back stronger.

The final outcome of the league saw them deservedly win the division by 3 points after scoring 133 goals in 20 games. Each and every one of the lads deserves massive credit for their hard work and commitment throughout the season and to pick out individuals would be unfair to everyone who created the team spirit that proved their strongest asset. Massive thanks goes to “Wilton Transport” for their sponsorship of the team.

1 person that does merit a mention is secretary Sarah Buckton, who without her endeavour and admin skills the team would not function as well as it does.
Well done to everyone and roll on next season and more glory.
